Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) won three Hermes Creative Awards for its Choices magazine. Choices is a quarterly publication promoting health and wellness lifestyle information to more than 280,000 BCBSRI member households.

BCBSRI won a platinum award in the publication/magazine category and was named "among the most outstanding entries in the competition." Additionally, BCBSRI earned two gold awards for Choices—one for writing and one for design.

"We are very proud of Choices and the quality of information it provides to our members," said Christopher Medici, chief communications officer of BCBSRI. "Our hope is that our members make informed decisions about exercise, nutrition, medical care, and other important issues related to their health. Choices is a valuable resource in this regard."

The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition sponsored by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). More than 3,700 entries were submitted by corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, design boutiques, production companies, and Web-focused professionals. AMCP judges are industry professionals who look for talent that exceeds a high standard of excellence. Winners were selected from 142 categories in seven forms of media and communications efforts.

In 2008, BCBSRI earned four AMCP MarCom Awards for Choices. The magazine was honored in the following categories: best magazine design, best nonprofit magazine design, best magazine cover design, and best magazine design interior.
