Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island Names Bob Wolfkiel Chief Sales Officer

PROVIDENCE, RI (June 4, 2012) – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) today announced the promotion of Bob Wolfkiel to the position of chief sales officer and vice president of sales, effective immediately. In this capacity, Wolfkiel is responsible for driving BCBSRI's sales efforts, initiating key business partnerships and leading the organization's strategic planning and new business development. As a vice president, Wolfkiel is a member of the company's senior leadership team and will report to Chief Marketing Officer Shanna Marzilli.

"Bob came to BCBSRI as an accomplished sales leader and has directed our efforts to enhance broker and consultant relations, while preparing the company's sales strategy for the Rhode Island Health Insurance Exchange, which becomes available in 2014," said Marzilli. "Bob's keen focus on results will help BCBSRI to strategically grow our business as we deliver new and innovative products to brokers, employers and individuals within our market. This will help make healthcare more affordable and accessible to all Rhode Islanders."

Wolfkiel brings over 20 years of experience in the health insurance industry, and 15 years at the executive management level, to his new role. He joined BCBSRI in August of 2011 as assistant vice president of sales. Prior to joining BCBSRI, Wolfkiel held senior management positions at Willis Insurance Services and Humana Inc. Before that, Wolfkiel worked for Aetna Inc. for 13 years. He began his insurance career at US Healthcare in New York City, after studying International Business at Hofstra University.

Mr. Wolfkiel relocated from Atlanta, Georgia and lives in Barrington with his wife Diane and twin daughters.
