Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will offer free body composition screenings on Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 445 Elmwood Avenue, Providence. All members of the public are encouraged to attend.
Body composition, the ratio of lean body mass to fat body mass, can help individuals better understand if they are leading a healthy lifestyle. Those with optimal body composition are typically healthier and feel better than those with a less-than-ideal ratio.
Additionally, if an individual is exercising to lose weight, the scale may not be the best way to measure progress. Even if someone has lost five pounds of fat, the number on the scale might not be getting smaller if he or she has increased muscle mass. Instead, a body composition screening is the best way to determine if health goals are being achieved or if adjustments should be made to the person's diet or exercise routine.
No registration for the BCBSRI screenings is required.
