  -

As part of its continuing efforts to educate the public on the dangers of high blood pressure, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will sponsor three free blood pressure screening events this month.

The free screenings will take place on the following dates:

  • Sunday, September 19 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Farm Fresh Rhode Island, 67 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket.
  • Tuesday, September 21 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Farm Fresh Rhode Island, 719 Front Street, Woonsocket.
  • Tuesday, September 28 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Crossroads Rhode Island, 160 Broad Street, Providence.

An estimated one in four American adults has high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. Hypertension is referred to as a silent disease because it often has no signs or symptoms, and many people do not realize they have it. If left untreated, hypertension can lead to a heart attack, stroke, or kidney failure.

Rhode Islanders interested in learning their blood pressure are encouraged to visit the BCBSRI blood pressure screening event for a five-minute blood pressure test.

As schedules are subject to change, please visit Community Events Calendar on BCBSRI.com for updates.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island is the state's leading health insurer and covers more than 600,000 members. Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
