Mr. Norton’s 35 years of experience in healthcare system management includes leadership positions at several major hospitals. He is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of North Shore Medical Center, where he is responsible for the center's strategic leadership, operation oversight, and network development activities. Mr. Norton is the former President and CEO of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center in Florida and has held executive positions at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Deaconess Hospital, New England Baptist Hospital, and Rhode Island Hospital. A strong advocate for comprehensive healthcare reform and cost management, Mr. Norton is the former Chairman of the Massachusetts Hospital Association and currently serves on the Boards of several professional and community organizations. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Mr. Norton holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering. He also earned his Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota. Mr. Norton was elected to the Blue Cross Board of Directors in April 2010.
