A Rhode Islander transforming local healthcare
Kim Keck brings more than 25 years of health insurance experience to her role as BCBSRI president and CEO. She leads the company’s ongoing efforts to drive a simplified customer experience and to advance coordinated, patient-centered, and affordable healthcare for Rhode Islanders.
In June 2016, Kim came to BCBSRI from Aetna, where she was engaged in integration planning in connection with Aetna’s anticipated acquisition of Humana. She previously served as president of Aetna’s northeast region and interim president of the southeast region, with responsibility for $20 billion in revenue and approximately five million members in the individual, small, and middle markets. During her decades-long tenure at Aetna, she also held leadership roles in enterprise strategy and finance and served as chief of staff to Ronald A. Williams, Aetna’s former chairman, CEO, and president.
Under Kim’s leadership, Aetna achieved both top-line and bottom-line growth. Kim was also instrumental in Aetna’s development of value-based reimbursement programs, models for accountable care and population health, and utilization management.
Born and raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island, Kim earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Boston College and an MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut. She served on the board of directors at the Connecticut Business and Industry Association. She lives in Rhode Island with her husband and college-aged daughter.
