A Rhode Islander transforming local healthcare
Kim Keck brings more than 25 years of health insurance experience to her role as BCBSRI president and CEO. She leads the company’s ongoing efforts to drive a simplified customer experience and to advance coordinated, patient-centered, and affordable healthcare for Rhode Islanders.
In June 2016, Kim came to BCBSRI from Aetna, where she had served as president of Aetna’s northeast region and interim president of the southeast region, with responsibility for $20 billion in revenue and approximately five million members in the individual, small, and middle markets. During her decades-long tenure at Aetna, she also held leadership roles in enterprise strategy, finance, and mergers and acquisition integration as well as served as chief of staff to Ronald A. Williams, Aetna’s former chairman, CEO, and president.
Under Kim’s leadership, Aetna achieved both significant top-line and bottom-line growth. Kim was also instrumental in Aetna’s development of value-based reimbursement programs, models for accountable care and population health, and utilization management.
Born and raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island, Kim graduated with honors from Boston College with a degree in Mathematics and earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut. She served on the board of directors at the Connecticut Business and Industry Association. Kim serves as a director of the following organizations: Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council, Rhode Island Quality Institute, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, and Prime Therapeutics, LLC. She lives in Rhode Island with her husband and college-aged daughter.
