Mr. Wray is leading the effort to achieve operational excellence at Blue Cross, which means delivering top-tier performance across the spectrum of the company's activities. This is the foundation of the platform from which we will deliver our broadening integrated health management capabilities. He also oversees our government programs for seniors, for whom accessible and affordable care is more important than ever.
Functional areas under Mr. Wray's direct leadership include technology, customer and provider service, continuous improvement, operations, and delivery of care management programs. Additionally, Mr. Wray is responsible for the company’s Medicare Advantage, Medicare supplement insurance, and standalone prescription drug plans.
From 1993 until joining Blue Cross in 2009, he served in a variety of capacities at Citizens Financial Group as it grew to be one of the nation's largest banks. His final assignment was as Vice Chairman and Chief Information Officer at Citizens, responsible for back-office operations, customer service, technology, and corporate procurement. Earlier in his career he worked in commercial real estate and served as an Army engineer officer.
Mr. Wray is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and holds a Master's degree from Stanford University. He and his wife Nancy live in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. They have three grown children and one grandchild.
Mr. Wray serves on the boards of Amos House, Providence Performing Arts Center, Family Service of Rhode Island, Year Up Providence, and The Business Development Company of Rhode Island. He is an alumnus of Leadership Rhode Island. He is also active in his local parish and on the Finance Committee of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence.
