Ms. Sherman brings more than 25 years of top-level corporate experience and deep roots in the community to her board role. Currently the principal of Sherman Consulting, Ms. Sherman served as president and chief executive officer of Bank Rhode Island and its publicly traded parent company, which she cofounded and led for 16 years.
Ms. Sherman sits on a number of for-profit, government and non-profit boards, including Brookline Bancorp Inc., the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank (Chairman), Preservation Society of Newport County, and Crossroads Rhode Island (past Chairman). As a result of her professional and personal accomplishments, Ms. Sherman has received numerous recognitions including United Way’s Tocqueville Award for Philanthropy (2014); Providence Business News’ Rhode Island’s 25 Most Influential Business Leaders in the past 25 years (2011), and U.S. Banker’s 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking (2010). Ms. Sherman is an appointee of the Senate President and was elected to the Blue Cross Board of Directors in February 2013.
