This is a HSA plan

You go to the emergency room and get an X-ray. You also get a cast and crutches. You pay $560 for the ER visit, which applies to your deductible. The ER doctor refers you to an orthopedic specialist for follow-up, and gives you a prescription for pain medication. You pay $29 for a generic pain medication, which also applies to your deductible.

The orthopedic specialist does a follow-up X-ray to make sure you’re healing properly. You pay $230 for the visit, and $130 for the X-ray. Both charges apply to your deductible.

You go back to the orthopedic specialist one more time to have your cast removed. You pay $230 for the visit, which applies to your deductible.

Your total cost for the injury: $1,179, which is applied to your deductible. Your remaining deductible for the year is $4,821.
