Healthcare Accessibility and Quality Assurance Act (1996)

The Healthcare Accessibility and Quality Assurance Act of 1996 stipulates that health and dental insurance plans disclose plan information to consumers prior to enrollment. This law applies to all lines of health and dental insurance sold in Rhode Island, not just BCBSRI business.

The law helps consumers make informed choices about their health insurance coverage. All prospective plan enrollees must receive a copy of the plan's Consumer Disclosure booklet (available from your General Agent or your BCBSRI Representative). Please remember the following when working with prospective enrollees:
