Broker's Guide
Welcome Letter

Welcome!

We are pleased to provide you with a new, updated Broker's Guide for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI). This comprehensive guide contains useful information about our innovative products and services, as well as an overview of our corporate purpose and renewed quality initiatives. We hope it will serve as a useful sales tool to help you achieve your business goals.

The Broker's Guide includes features and benefits of our plans: our highly rated BlueCHiP Coordinated Health Plan, the popular HealthMate Coast-to-Coast, and Classic Blue, our traditional indemnity plan. Value-added options such as Good Health Benefit offer workplace programs to promote healthy lifestyle choices. Blue Cross Dental includes many options to fit any budget and any group size. A side-by-side comparison chart offers a topline overview of dental options for quick reference.

State mandated plans for small groups are also available to any small employer, regardless of employees' health status or claims experience. Essential Care 4 and Essential Care 5 are low-cost plans that cover eligible services at 80 percent of our allowance, with access to providers outside our network through the BlueCard Traditional network. The Basic Small Group Health Plan covers employees at 100 percent of our allowance, less any coinsurance or copayments. Employees under this plan have access to all hospitals in Rhode Island and approximately 98 percent of all Rhode Island providers.

We've also included an overview of our integrated services such as workers' compensation through CompAlliance® as well as life insurance, disability, and much more through Combined Services LLC. With all these benefits available from one source, your job will be easier, with reduced administrative burdens and increased productivity.

In addition to providing key selling points about our products, the Guide also offers specific information on quotes and enrollment, useful checklists, underwriting guidelines, and commission schedules. We hope you'll find this Guide to be a valuable resource. As always, please feel free to contact your General Agent or call BCBSRI directly at (401) 459-5185 if you have any questions or need any other information.

Meanwhile, we wish you much success in reaching your goals and helping more customers take advantage of the affordable, quality healthcare coverage that is becoming synonymous with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

Sincerely,

Brad Johnson
