We apologize for the inconvenience. We will inform you when the service disruption ends and we return to normal processes.

If you have questions, as always you can call speak with your account representative.

A nationwide system disruption prevents us from printing and mailing bills as usual. If you normally receive a paper bill from us, you will instead receive a notice in the mail with your amount due and due date. This notice will serve as your bill. If you are currently enrolled in electronic funds transfer (EFT) with BCBSRI, no action is needed. The amount due will continue to be deducted from your account.

If you have any questions regarding your Medicare Advantage billing information, please call the Medicare Concierge Team at (401) 459-5064. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A cyberattack on a major service provider in the healthcare industry—Change Healthcare, which is owned by UnitedHealth Group—has affected BCBSRI as well as other insurers, pharmacies, and healthcare providers across the country.

Change Healthcare, which is owned by UnitedHealth Group, provides revenue and payment cycle management services across the U.S. healthcare landscape. In addition, it is a switch vendor that contracts with external pharmacies to receive claims and forward them to the appropriate pharmacy benefit manager (PBM).

In the interest of protecting members’ information, we suspended all file sharing with Change Healthcare. This has caused some disruptions, and we are evaluating temporary alternative processes to address those issues. We are also investigating if there are other impacts on members.

We do know that there had been a disruption to pharmacy services for some members. We have been working with our pharmacy partners and believe this has been addressed for most members, including specialty drugs.

There is no specific date yet as Change Healthcare is still evaluating the impact on its systems. Meanwhile, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure our members have access to needed services.

We will update this page as we learn more. You may also reach out to your account executive. Members can call our Customer Service team at the number on the back of their BCBSRI member ID card.
