5 ways your BCBSRI provider relations rep can help

As a physician or provider in the BCBSRI network, you have a provider relations rep who is your personal BCBSRI advisor and can help with information or resources you and your staff may need.

If you’re not working closely with your rep, you may want to reach out to see how they can help. These are 5 examples of what your rep can do for you.

  1. Make administration easier
In the BCBSRI Provider Portal, you’ll find information to help your patients and your staff, including member eligibility, claims status, fee schedules, and medical and payment policies. Your rep can help you get started with a log-in, give you a tour of the portal, and explain where to find important news, such as the monthly Provider Update newsletter.
  2. Be your personal problem-solver
If you’ve already contacted our Physician & Provider Call Center by phone or secure messaging (in the Provider Portal) and your issue isn’t resolved, your rep can help. Contact your rep with your reference number so they can review the claim. If the Physician & Provider Service Center asks for a specific amount of time to review your issue, please wait until after that to get in touch with your rep.
  3. Share details about certifications and trainings
Through the BCBSRI Safe Zone certification program, we help members find health-related facilities that provide a safe, affirming, and welcoming setting for all Rhode Islanders. If you’re interested in becoming a Safe Zone provider, you can apply and talk with your rep about any questions. Also, your rep can connect you with any required trainings you need to take. For example, in-network providers with the BlueRI for Duals (HMO-D-SNP) network need to take an initial training and then an annual refresher. Click here to view the training.
  4. Help you keep your information up-to-date
Your rep can help you stay current with information in our provider directory, such as affiliated facilities, languages spoken in your office, and whether you are accepting new patients.
  5. Meet with you to offer personalized help
Have an issue that you need assistance with? Or want to know more about how your provider rep can help? Your rep can set up a virtual or phone meeting.

If you don’t have the contact information for your rep, please contact ProviderRelations@bcbsri.org. They’ll be happy to put you in touch with your representative.
