Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that can interfere with daily functioning and development. ADHD is one of the most commonly diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorders in children, and symptoms often continue into adulthood. ADHD symptoms can present differently from person to person and may change over time.
An estimated 7 million children in the United States have a current ADHD diagnosis, and many have at least one co-occurring condition. This underscores the importance of early identification, comprehensive evaluation, and timely treatment. Increased awareness and understanding of ADHD can help reduce stigma, promote access to appropriate care, and connect individuals and families with valuable support and resources.
