PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will soon begin accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for its BlueAngel Community Health Grants. The grant funding for 2027 will support projects related to housing, food, maternal health, and youth mental health.

For more than 25 years, BCBSRI has invested in programs that help Rhode Islanders live healthier lives. The BlueAngel Community Health Grant program is a key part of BCBSRI's commitment to improving health and well-being across Rhode Island by addressing the social and environmental factors that influence health. Through these investments, BCBSRI seeks to support community-driven solutions, address disparities, and help ensure all Rhode Islanders have the opportunity to live healthy lives.

Guided by insights from the RI Life Index—BCBSRI’s partnership with the Brown University School of Public Health—the 2027 grants will invest in these four priority areas: 

• Healthy Housing – Safe and affordable homes
• Healthy Food – Access to nutritious food
• Healthy Moms – Maternal health and well-being
• Healthy Minds – Youth mental health and wellness

The 2027 BlueAngel Community Health Grant program will provide: 

• Two years of funding (January 2027–December 2028)
• $100,000 annually
• Additional opportunities for organizational support and capacity-building resources

BlueAngel Community Health Grants are the cornerstone of BCBSRI’s community-investment activities and have contributed more than $8 million in funding to Rhode Island-based nonprofits since their inception.
