More than 30 Rhode Island businesses honored in 27th Annual Worksite Health Awards

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce celebrate honorees that prioritize employee wellness

PROVIDENCE, RI  (December 9, 2021) – In recognition of Rhode Island employers’ continued efforts to advance employee wellness and build a healthier Rhode Island, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce (the “Chamber”) have honored 34 businesses with 2021 Worksite Health Awards.

The Worksite Health Awards are an opportunity for employers to learn from best practices while showcasing the advances being made every day to improve the health and well-being of Rhode Islanders at work. In this year’s awards, companies were once again recognized for their support of employees’ physical and emotional well-being during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With so many still working remotely, there continues to be a heightened priority on connecting with employees through new and innovative wellness offerings.

“Our Worksite Health Award winners have found so many creative ways to support and enrich employees’ health, including programs that help manage stress and build resilience,” said Melissa Cummings, BCBSRI executive vice president and chief customer officer. “We’re fortunate to have so many companies headquartered right here in Rhode Island, but whose reach extends globally, focused on helping their employees through this challenging time. Through their leadership, they prove that wellness is good for employees and for businesses.”

The honorees’ creativity was on full display with offerings such as virtual employee assistance program (EAP) programming; meal deliveries; child care and transportation benefits; additional family support benefits; zero-cost mental health appointments; and fun virtual events such as talent shows and painting nights.

“The Providence Chamber is pleased to once again partner with Blue Cross to recognize the outstanding efforts of so many Rhode Island businesses to support the physical and emotional well-being of their employees,” said Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. “The honorees of the 27th Annual Worksite Health Awards are examples of the dedication and creativity businesses are demonstrating in taking care of their people and making the overall health of their employees a top priority in unique and innovative ways.”

All Rhode Island-headquartered businesses of any size are eligible to apply for the Worksite Health Awards, which are awarded annually. Winners selected are those that demonstrate exceptional health and wellness programs and health-oriented workplace policies.
