7 ways BCBSRI supports you and your patients

You care for our members, and we’re here to help every step of the way. As a local, nonprofit health insurer, we serve our members and our mission, not shareholders—and we’re proud to partner with the physicians and providers helping our members improve their health.

Here is a look at 7 ways we can help support the care you provide and make administration easier. For members who qualify, all the resources listed below are available at no additional cost through their BCBSRI health plan.

  1. Providing clinical programs to help your patients with complex health needs
Working with you and your team, we help your patients navigate the challenges of physical and behavioral health conditions. These programs can help you by enhancing care coordination, improving patient outcomes through wraparound services, and reducing your administrative burden. Find out more about the clinical programs available to your patients.
  2. Offering 24/7 support for members with cancer
Designed in partnership with local cancer institutes, our cancer care support program was launched in 2025 in collaboration with Daymark Health. Working hand in hand with primary care practices and cancer centers, Daymark’s oncology-trained staff checks in regularly with your patients, responds around the clock to urgent issues, and offers in-home and virtual visits. Daymark can also help patients find local solutions and avoid unnecessary out-of-state trips.
  3. Making pharmacists part of your team
To help ensure patient care is managed holistically, our pharmacists work alongside you to support your plan of care. Reducing the number of prior authorizations We want to give you more time for what you do best—care for patients. In 2025, we eliminated most medical prior authorizations (PAs) for primary care providers and are continuing to reduce PAs to simplify your administration and streamline access to care for members. Helping you close gaps in care By working with you to monitor, analyze, and act on care opportunities, our team helps you ensure timely gap closure and sustained quality improvement.
  4. Supporting you with local provider reps
You have a provider relations rep who is your personal BCBSRI advisor and can help with information or resources you and your staff may need. They can make administration easier, resolve claims issues, share training opportunities, and meet with you to offer personalized help. Learn more about your provider rep.
  5. Meeting with members in person
In addition to receiving help over the phone, members can meet with us in person at our five retail store locations or at our mobile Your Blue Bus. Our Medicaid Specialists can even help them apply for Medicaid and Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS). In our stores, members can also take free fitness and well-being classes.
