To improve access to life-saving Naloxone products for our members, including brand Narcan nasal spray and generic naloxone injectable, BCBSRI moved all formulations of covered Naloxone products to a tier one pharmacy copay, effective February 1, 2020. Because of the widespread opioid epidemic, which has impacted Americans across the country regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, or socioeconomic status, the U. S. Surgeon General has encouraged everyone to carry Narcan. This change will allow BCBSRI members to obtain Narcan nasal spray, for themselves or someone else, at the lowest copayment tier.
