Effective January 1, 2026, CMS is updating the turnaround time requirement for routine cases from 14 calendar days to seven calendar days. This applies to both Medicare and Medicaid. BCBSRI and their vendors will follow this protocol. All routine authorizations will be turnaround within seven calendar days of receipt.
