Upcoming Free Continuing Education Seminar: Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change

BCBSRI in partnership with the Substance and Mental Health Leadership Council (SUMHLC), is offering our in-network providers a free Continuing Education seminar titled: “Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change”

Description:

The Trans-theoretical Model, commonly known as the Stages of Change, describes the states humans find themselves in as they consider, make and maintain changes. MI is a flexible communication tool kit that promotes connection, collaboration and mobilizes inner and outer resources.  This highly interactive, intermediate-level course integrates the two, provides practice in identifying the Stage of Change as it shifts and offers a menu of practical MI skills to work effectively within each stage

Objectives:

  • Introduce the Transtheoretical Model
  • Learn to use client language and behavior to identify Stages of Change
  • Review MI Spirit's role in creating impactful, supportive relationships
  • Practice stage-specific MI interventions

This virtual seminar will take place on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 10am-1pm.  If you would like to attend, we ask that you RSVP to our Behavioral Health team via email at Behavioralhealth@bcbsri.org by April 25, 2024.  Once you have signed up for the event, a confirmation email will be sent to you.
