To help individuals better determine if they are leading a healthy lifestyle, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is offering a free body composition screening on Wednesday, September 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the St. Edwards Wellness Center, 1001 Branch Avenue, Providence.
Body composition is the ratio of lean body mass to fat body mass. Those with optimal body composition are typically healthier and feel better than those with a less-than-ideal ratio.
However, individuals who are exercising to lose weight may not be able to measure their progress from the scale alone. Since muscle weighs more than fat, a person might gain muscle mass but not lose weight, which can be misleading and frustrating. A body composition screening is the best way to determine if health goals are being achieved or if adjustments should be made to the person’s diet or exercise routine.
Registration for this BCBSRI screening event is not required.
