BlueAngel grants and volunteer help
BCBSRI is guided by our vision to improve health and well-being by leading access to high-quality, affordable, and equitable care for all Rhode Islanders. This commitment underpins our social responsibility activities, which include supporting local nonprofit community organizations through financial contributions, in-kind support, services, and volunteer time and engagement.
We focus on addressing social determinants of health, improving health equity, and supporting initiatives that enable all Rhode Islanders to lead healthy lives.
To apply for support through BCBSRI’s charitable giving program, please review our Charitable Contributions Policy. If your request aligns with our areas of focus, we invite you to submit a proposal through our grants management platform. Please contact BlueAngel.News@bcbsri.org with any questions.
Living our values beyond our walls
Spirit of helping
BCBSRI employees are known for their volunteer efforts helping fellow Rhode Islanders. Our colleagues go well beyond the 12 hours of paid volunteer time that the company gives each employee.
A highlight of the year is Blue across Rhode Island, a company-wide day of service when we partner with local organizations to swing hammers, roll paint, pack supplies, and support Rhode Islanders in many other ways.
2025 marked the 14th year of Blue across Rhode Island.
On our 14th annual Blue across Rhode Island, more than 500 BCBSRI employees volunteered more than 3,000 hours to help our neighbors.

Spirit of giving
The people who work at BCBSRI help our neighbors and communities throughout the year with contributions to the many community-based organizations that partner with BCBSRI, raising money for groups and initiatives like United Way of Rhode Island, American Heart Association, and Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
