BCBSRI Primary Care Provider Performance “Ratings” changing to “Awards” effective January 1

BCBSRI’s Primary Care Provider Performance Ratings program highlights strong performing providers consistently delivering lower costs and higher quality through patient-centered, evidence-based, appropriate, and coordinated care. Current ratings will be displayed as Performance Awards effective January 1, 2021. Providers will be eligible to receive awards for cost-efficiency and quality, to be displayed on the BCBSRI online provider directory, Find a Doctor. These awards give consumers insight into a PCP’s overall healthcare costs and ability to consistently adhere to clinical best practices through standardized metrics.

Consistent with previous updates, the data used to generate performance awards reflect the most current claims data and PCP Quality Incentive Program (PQIP) information available and is refreshed on an annual basis. The 2021 Primary Care Provider Performance Awards will be available on the BCBSRI Find a Doctor tool in late spring 2021. BCBSRI members can view the awards by logging on to the member portal.

Reviewing your performance

The BCBSRI Network Performance Team is available as a resource to help you understand the Primary Care Provider Performance Awards and identify opportunities for improvement. Also, the BCBSRI Quality Concierge program has a team of dedicated nurses that can provide additional education of the PQIP program and identify areas of opportunity within each defined measure.

Please email ProviderRequests@bcbsri.org with general questions, Award review requests, or for additional support from the teams mentioned above.
