Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) won five MarCom Awards this month for creative excellence in communications programs and materials. Added to the 17 other communications awards BCBSRI has earned, it brings the total to 22 awards for 2009 alone. The MarCom Awards is an annual international competition of the Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals (AMCP), and is the largest competition of its kind in the world, according to the AMCP.
BCBSRI won two platinum awards and two gold awards. The honored work included the design and copywriting of Choices magazine; the design of a diabetes kit; and the design of an annual report. BCBSRI also received an honorable mention for the writing of the annual report.
Choices is a quarterly publication promoting health and wellness lifestyle information to more than 280,000 BCBSRI member households.
“We are very proud of the quality and presentation of information we provide to our members,” said James E. Purcell, president and CEO of BCBSRI. “Our educational materials need to be highly effective to engage members in learning more about making informed decisions about exercise, nutrition, medical care, and other important issues related to their health. It’s an honor to have our work recognized by experts who have judged the best of the best and selected ours to be that caliber.”
In 2008, BCBSRI earned four AMCP MarCom Awards for Choices. The magazine was honored in the following categories: best magazine design, best nonprofit magazine design, best magazine cover design, and best magazine design interior.
