Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island Names Ellie Harrison Senior Vice President of Human Resources



Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) today announced the appointment of Ellie Harrison to the post of Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Harrison brings an extensive background of human resource management to the role with experience in organizational design, leadership development, and talent management and acquisition. She will report directly to BCBSRI President and CEO Peter Andruszkiewicz.
“Ellie’s deep human resources experience spans healthcare, financial services, and technology, all of which are critically important to BCBSRI as we work to transform healthcare,” said Andruszkiewicz. “Ellie’s role at BCBSRI will be to build stronger relationships with our associates, strengthen our strategic recruitment efforts, and support organizational structures aimed at achieving our goals.” 
With over 30 years of experience in human resources, Harrison will oversee all facets of human resources for the state’s largest health insurer. Her responsibilities include compensation and benefits, diversity and inclusion, talent management and acquisition, as well as employee engagement and development. 
“I’ve spent much of my career supporting organizational growth during times of great change, and I am excited to have the opportunity to join BCBSRI at a time when the healthcare landscape is shifting so dramatically,” said Harrison. “I’m eager to work with my new team and BCBSRI’s leadership to grow and develop our talent, promote diversity and inclusion, and strategically support the organization’s long-term development.”
Harrison joins BCBSRI from Citigroup in New York where she served as senior human resources advisor for its global consumer banking division for four years. Prior to Citigroup, Harrison oversaw human resources for Fidelity Investments’ personal investing division in New England. Harrison also served as the vice president of human resources for HealthSource, Inc. in Concord, New Hampshire. Harrison, a native of Rhode Island, is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and currently resides in Wickford, Rhode Island.
