Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will offer free blood pressure and cholesterol screenings later this month.
The screenings will be available to all members of the public on Friday, July 24, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Healthy Body, Mind, and Sprit Festival, which is taking place at McAuley House, 622 Elmwood Avenue, Providence.
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is referred to as a silent disease because it often has no signs or symptoms, and many people don't realize they have it. If left untreated, hypertension can lead to a heart attack, stroke, or kidney failure. To find out your blood pressure, come to the festival and have BCBSRI administer a free five-minute blood pressure screening test.
