Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island to Offer Free Health Screenings

(Providence, RI, 12.2.2010)
  -

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) announced today that it will hold two free health-related screenings and assessments in May.

All members of the public are invited to attend the following:

  • Health risk assessment services will be available on Monday, May 4 at the offices of Progreso Latino on 626 Broad Street, Central Falls from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • A blood pressure screening will be offered on Saturday, May 9 at the English for Action Soccer Tournament at Merino Park, Providence from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is referred to as a silent disease because it often has no signs or symptoms, and many people don't realize they have it. If left untreated, hypertension can lead to a heart attack, stroke, or kidney failure. To find out your blood pressure, visit the BCBSRI blood pressure screening event for a five-minute blood pressure test.

As schedules are subject to change, please visit BCBSRI.com or call (401) 459-5000 for updates.
