Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) today announced the addition of two new Dental Direct plans for individuals and families who purchase coverage directly from the non-profit, local health insurer. BCBSRI now offers three Dental Direct plans designed to better meet the dental needs of a broad range of Rhode Islanders. One of the new plan offerings features comprehensive dental coverage up to $1750 a year, the highest annual limit for services of any dental plan in Rhode Island. The other new plan is designed to provide basic coverage at 100 percent for those who just require preventive services.
"BCBSRI recognizes that some people need more dental coverage than others, so we decided to expand our plan offerings to provide members with more choice," said Jim Gallagher, assistant vice president of Strategic Marketing and Product Innovation at BCBSRI. "We also strongly advocate regular dental care as a critical component of healthcare. In fact, studies show that regular dental checkups and cleanings can greatly reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke, and help identify health risks like diabetes and other serious conditions."
BCBSRI offers three Dental Direct plans without a deductible for individuals and families who purchase dental insurance directly from BCBSRI. Each plan covers sealants at 100 percent and night guards, which are both important in preventing future dental challenges. The three plans include:
BCBSRI is the only dental insurer to offer four rate tiers within each of the three dental plans: individual, enrollee/spouse, parent/child(ren) or family. In addition, when choosing a BCBSRI Dental Direct plan, there is no application fee or annual membership fee.
