As part of its mission to help improve the health and wellness of all Rhode Islanders, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will offer nutrition advice at two free public events in June.
The first Nutrition 101 program will take place on Monday, June 13 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Mary House, 244 Smith Street, Providence. The second will be held in partnership with the India Association of Rhode Island on Saturday, June 25 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Shape Up Rhode Island event in Roger Williams Park, Providence.
Although a good diet is an important part of maintaining a healthy weight and preventing chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and even certain types of cancers, understanding what constitutes a healthy diet can be challenging. An overabundance of information available from magazines and the Internet can make it overwhelming for individuals to know what and how they should be eating.
The BCBSRI Nutrition 101 events are designed to separate fact from fiction and provide proper nutrition advice. Certified health educators will be available to offer hands-on demonstrations and answer nutrition-related questions.
No registration for the BCBSRI Nutrition 101 event is required.
