In honor or Physical Wellness Month, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is holding a free wellness screening event for members of the public interested in checking their vital signs. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Crossroads Rhode Island, 160 Broad Street, Providence.
Attendees of the wellness screening will have their total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), and glucose (blood sugar) levels checked. Fasting is not required to participate.
Participating in wellness screenings regularly decreases the chances of developing serious health risks unknowingly. High cholesterol is the leading indicator of heart disease and high glucose levels may indicate diabetes. Screenings allow for the prevention or early diagnosis of these diseases. Along with informing participants of their health standings, this BCBSRI event will provide Rhode Islanders with helpful steps in making lifestyle changes and better managing their health.
Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island is the state's leading health insurer and covers more than 600,000 members. The company is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. For more information, visit www.bcbsri.comand follow us on Twitter @BCBSRI.
