Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) won four Hermes Creative Awards for its Choices magazine, a member publication focusing on health and wellness information, and an honorable mention for the redesign of its intranet site, dubbed InsideBlue.
BCBSRI won two platinum awards: One for the Choices Winter 2009 issue in the publications/magazine category and one for BCBSRI Choices writer Beth Adamo's grief article titled, "Picking Up the Pieces" in the writing/publication article category. Additionally, the Choices Winter 2009 issue was judged to be "among the most outstanding entries in the competition."
Two gold awards were given to BCBSRI for the Choices Fall 2009 issue in both the writing/publication and design/publication overall categories.
"We are honored to be recognized for the quality of our educational and internal communications efforts," said Michele B. Lederberg, executive vice president of BCBSRI. "The goal of Choices is to share useful information with our members in the hope that it will guide them to make good decisions about their self care that will help to improve their health and quality of life. Individuals who are healthy and people who use the healthcare system more efficiently tend to save themselves and the healthcare system substantial costs, which is our goal for all members."
Lederberg said that the recognition of InsideBlue was particularly encouraging as the company works hard to keep BCBSRI employees informed about company initiatives and industry trends, and to provide access to information to help them perform their jobs.
