Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) today announced the election of Kevin G. Reddy to its board of directors.
Mr. Reddy is president, business agent and trustee of Teamsters Union Local 251. He has acted as a trustee of the Teamsters Health Services and Insurance Plan for more than 15 years and as a representative for Rhode Island Hospital, which includes serving as co-chair of the Hospital's Negotiating Committee for the past 10 years. Additionally, he co-chaired the Teamsters Rhode Island Hospital Scholarship Fund.

"His long-term expertise working with various healthcare organizations across the state will bring a unique perspective to the important issue of healthcare reform in Rhode Island. Mr. Reddy's addition to the BCBSRI board will be an asset as we continue to transform our organization into a wellness company and work to improve the local healthcare delivery system."

In addition to his experience in the healthcare industry, Reddy represents United Parcel Service and is a member of the New England Area Parcel Grievance Committee and the New England Area Parcel Negotiating Committee. He also serves as chairman of the Teamsters Training Fund. Prior to joining Teamsters Union Local 251, Reddy was the Shop Steward at the former Eddy & Fisher, Inc. and SuperValu C.I.W.
Reddy received a bachelor's degree from the Providence College School of Continuing Education. He is a resident of East Providence, R.I.
