Manage Your Sun Damage at Free BCBSRI Sun Safety Screening Events in June

(Providence, RI, 5.28.2010)

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will host two free sun safety screenings in June for members of the public looking to assess their sun damage before heading to the beach this summer.

The free screenings will take place on the following dates:

  • Sunday, June 6 from 7:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the Rhody 5K Road Race at 100 Twin River Road, Lincoln.
  • Tuesday, June 15 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Crossroads Rhode Island, 160 Broad Street, Providence.

The sun safety screening uses DermaView® technology to analyze an individual's face for sun damage, which allows participants to view the effects of cumulative sun exposure since early childhood. Attendees also will receive safety tips on the proper use of sunscreen and learn other steps they can take to avoid sunburns and long-term skin damage.

Please Note: Bare skin is best for the screening. If you use facial moisturizer or other cosmetics that contain sunscreen, even if it has a low SPF, please remove it before the evaluation begins.

As schedules are subject to change, please visit the Community Events Calendar on for updates.
