Eric J. Beane
Eric J. Beane most recently served as the secretary of the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services. Prior to his appointment as secretary, Beane served as the chief operating officer for the State of Rhode Island and acting director of the Rhode Island Department of Human Services. Mr. Beane previously served as Governor Gina Raimondo’s deputy chief of staff, assisting her in developing a policy agenda on public health, public safety, and energy and environmental issues.
Before joining Governor Raimondo’s administration, Mr. Beane was deputy chief of staff for Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. He also served as deputy legal counsel in the governor’s office. Earlier in his career, he worked as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, specializing in constitutional, national security, and administrative/regulatory law.
Beane did his undergraduate work at the University of Chicago and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law. He also studied abroad at the London School of Economics and in China and Israel. Beane is a resident of Providence, Rhode Island. An appointee of the governor, he was formally elected to the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island board of directors in June 2019.
