Reminder: Guidelines for processing group product line cancellations

As a reminder, there are guidelines all brokers should follow when submitting group cancellations for medical, dental, or vision products to BCBSRI.

Small groups

  • We cannot accept a letter or email forwarded from you on behalf of the group.
  • Groups must submit a Request for Amendment to Sales Agreement form signed by an authorized representative of the group, indicating that the group would like to discontinue purchasing a specific product line.
  • All cancellations to a product line can only be made for a future date.

Large groups

  • You can send a letter or email forwarded from you on behalf of the group to your sales representative with the request.
  • The group will receive a Healthcare Rate Acceptance document (commonly referred to as an Amendment to the Sales Agreement) from us. The document will require a signature from an authorized representative of the group if the group makes an off-cycle change that affects products or rates.
  • All cancellations to a product line can only be made for a future date.
